Oil on masonite panel, 60 × 40 cm, created in 2026, an original impressionist portrait titled Under the same silence, hand-signed, produced in the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
Oil paint on Masonite panel 0.6 cm
This work is part of my duo auction, in which I bring together several paintings around calm, vulnerability, and the longing to sometimes disappear from the world for a moment.
During the auction I’ll share extra footage from my studio on Instagram: details, moments of process, paint choices, and small thoughts about the works. For those who enjoy not only seeing the final result but also the search behind it, there is more to follow via @francienkrieg.
I like to paint portraits of young men and teenagers because there’s something special visible in that life phase: a vulnerability that the world has not yet hardened. Their faces and bodies carry an indefinable quality – they are not fully formed yet, but full of promise and possibilities. It’s exactly that in-between moment I’m drawn to: not a child anymore, not yet a man. In that transition lies a beauty I want to capture, the openness of what can still become and the fragile realization that this stage lasts only a short time.
All series – from self-portraits and aging bodies to young male boxers, women at sunset, and intimate scenes with cats – can be found on my website, where you can also read more about my background and motivations: www.francienkrieg.com
I work exclusively with high-quality materials: professionally prepared linen or smooth panels, and oil paints of the highest quality, rich in pigment. Each work is made with care and dedication – meant to endure, not only in material but also in meaning.
