Pair of Chinese porcelain bowls in the Amsterdams Bont style, dating from the 18th century and associated with the Kangxi period.
Description from the seller
Two Chinese porcelain bowls – Amsterdams bont, 18th century
A handsome pair of two Chinese porcelain bowls dating from the 18th century, executed in the so-called “Amsterdams bont.” This type of porcelain was produced in China and in the Netherlands, particularly in Amsterdam, hand-painted in colorful enamel decoration over the blue-and-white porcelain.
The bowls display a lively and rich polychrome decor, with floral and decorative motifs carefully applied over the original blue-and-white porcelain. This combination of Chinese production and Dutch decoration makes each piece unique and characterful.
“Amsterdams bont” is a popular category within Chinese export porcelain, where European taste and Eastern craftsmanship meet. The bright colors and playful compositions give the bowls a pronounced decorative appearance.
An attractive and collectible pair occupying a special place in the history of 18th-century trade and art exchange.
