Fleurs dans un vase is an original oil on canvas still life by Belgian artist Gérard Moortgat (1908/09–1992), from the 1930–1940 period, signed by hand, in excellent condition and sold with frame, measuring 103 × 93 cm with frame (80 × 70 cm without) and weighing about 1 kg.

Gérard Moortgat (1908/09-1992)
Gérard Moortgat (1908–1992) was a Belgian post-impressionist painter, from Melsele-Waas, mainly recognized for his landscapes, church interiors, city scenes of art towns and still lifes.
Artistic training
Places of study: Molenbeek-Saint-Jean Academy and Schaerbeek Saint-Luc School. Influential masters: He studied under the painter Henri Logelain. Stay in Italy: He spent four months in Venice to work on light under the supervision of Caldorini. Works from this trip were exhibited at the Isy Brachot gallery in Brussels in 1949.
Styles and themes
Main themes: Rural landscapes, floral compositions, interiors of religious buildings, and picturesque alleys.
Geographic inspirations: The Ardennes, the Campine, Flemish art towns (such as Beguinage of Lier or Ghent), but also Brittany and the South of France.
