Description from the seller
MiLo – “Unseen Space”
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
“Unseen Space” explores the tension between openness and concealment. Layers of pale whites, greys, and weathered tones are interrupted by a dark fractured form that moves through the surface like a fissure, cavern, or hidden passage. Fine scratched lines and subtle geometric markings emerge beneath the paint, creating the impression of a structure that is only partially visible — something buried, distant, or just outside perception.
The distressed textures, uneven surface, and scattered details give the work a tactile and atmospheric presence, balancing minimalism with raw material expression. Depending on its orientation, the composition can evoke shifting landscapes, architectural remnants, or an abstract spatial divide.
The painting can be hung in any orientation, allowing the visual rhythm and spatial tension of the work to change with its presentation.
The artwork will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube or box. A certificate of authenticity is included. The canvas can easily be stretched or framed by a local framer.
About the Artist
MiLo is an Amsterdam-based contemporary artist whose work balances abstraction, texture, and gesture. With a background in photography and visual design, his paintings often explore themes of erosion, layering, silence, urban decay, and spatial tension.
His process combines intuitive mark-making with controlled composition, resulting in surfaces that feel both constructed and weathered. Scratches, distressed textures, and layered materials play an important role in his visual language, giving each work a strong physical presence and sense of history.
Over the years, his works have found their way into private collections, hotels, offices, and restaurants across Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
