Biography:
Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovers at a very young age his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to take a bold decision: invest the money intended to fund his higher studies to invest it in creating his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album does not meet the expected success, but it marks the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experiments.
Parallel to his musical career, Kobalt enters the world of advertising as a designer/writer for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he puts his creativity at the service of the publication by creating and producing the magazine's advertising campaigns.
The turning point of his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who became a major figure in world street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Kobalt stands out with nearly 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to this day.
His artistic approach is marked by the bold use of humor, provocation and anachronisms, with a particular penchant for appropriating magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay on the margins of social networks, thus preserving a certain privacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation and humor.
