Biographie de l'artiste:

Former tagger in the 1990s, Enigme09 discovered photomontage in 2009. The painter Jacques Monory reinforced the path he chose by suggesting a poetic approach to his art.

His compositions fuse elements from the world of advertising or popular culture with others from the corpus of the History of Art. Their blend is shocking, detonating, surprising, unsettling, but also invites reflection on the status of images and on a possible hierarchy of values between them.

The artist manages to give meaning to familiar signs, emptied of content due to their overwhelming presence. But, of course, this meaning is most often far from their original signified. Enigme09 sums up his artistic credo in a pithy line: “giving voice to images to open our eyes.”
