A Japanese‑style low table and display cabinet in dark reddish‑brown lacquer with a rectangular body, dimensions 84.5 cm (D) x 37 cm (W) x 24.5 cm (H), made of wood with copper and lacquer detailing, originating from Japan and dating from circa 1950–1970, with a removable front panel and a side tray, and weighing 6.5 kg, in good used condition with minor signs of aging.
Description from the seller
Description:
This is a Japanese-style low table or display cabinet, finished in a dark reddish-brown lacquer or polished wood-like coating. The form is simple and modern, with a rectangular box-shaped body and a matching flat platform or tray extension on one side.
The main body has a single sliding or removable front panel, decorated with a central beige paper/textile panel bordered by patterned brocade-like fabric in muted gold and green tones. A small metal chrysanthemum-shaped pull knob is attached at the center, giving the otherwise plain piece a refined traditional accent.
The top and side platform have a fine ribbed or grooved surface texture, which adds visual depth and prevents the piece from looking too plain. The dark lacquered frame, straight lines, and broad flat top make it suitable for displaying a vase, incense burner, tea utensils, bonsai, seasonal ornaments, or Buddhist/tea room objects.
The front panel can be removed, revealing a dark interior storage space, so it may function both as a display table and storage box/cabinet. The side tray-like section could be used for arranging additional objects, making it suitable for a tokonoma-style display or tea room setting.
Condition appears generally good, with some small scratches, light wear, and minor signs of age/use on the lacquered surfaces and edges.
