Description from the seller

"ORIGIN"

Original mixed media relief artwork by Tiberiu - @CanisterCrafts
Part of the “Origin” conceptual series.

“Origin” explores the relationship between pain, creation, and transformation.

Constructed from hundreds of individually placed nails driven through wood and covered in deep monochrome red, the artwork transforms an aggressive industrial material into a controlled geometric structure. The nails pierce the surface like tension preserved in time — evoking both physical pain and emotional endurance.

The rhombus-like form intentionally shifts across the composition, creating the sensation of movement, expansion, and instability. Rather than remaining perfectly symmetrical, the structure evolves gradually from one corner to another, suggesting a portal-like progression through space, memory, and human experience.

Red becomes more than color: it represents blood, life, pressure, birth, and the invisible force sustaining existence itself.

The work is deeply connected to the idea of human origin and feminine creation. It reflects the paradox between suffering and life — the pain required for transformation, growth, and the beginning of existence.

Each nail was manually positioned and hammered individually over many hours of work. Slight irregularities, paint drips, and subtle imperfections are intentionally preserved as traces of the human hand. The artwork rejects mechanical perfection in favor of presence, process, and authenticity.

Due to its sculptural depth, the piece constantly changes depending on light and viewing angle. Shadows projected by the nails create a second invisible composition throughout the day, making the artwork dynamic rather than static.

The material language of the piece is partially inspired by the radical monochrome experimentation of Bernard Aubertin, while developing its own emotional and symbolic direction centered around tension, primal form, and contemporary human fragility.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Tiberiu is a self-taught Romanian contemporary artist based in Bucharest and co-founder of CanisterCrafts, an independent contemporary art studio focused on material experimentation and emotionally driven sculptural compositions.

Coming from a background in digital design and architecture, his artistic practice developed from a growing need to reconnect with physical creation in an increasingly artificial visual world. His works combine wood, industrial materials, relief structures, and handcrafted processes into tactile compositions where imperfection becomes part of the visual language.

Rather than pursuing polished mechanical precision, his approach embraces tension, process, shadow, texture, and transformation — allowing each material to preserve its own personality and evolution over time.

His work often explores themes of emotional pressure, memory, human creation, structural balance, and the fragile relationship between control and imperfection.
