Description from the seller
AMA • Pope (1985) - "Pokémon Sanctuary" - Pokémon - 1/30
Discover "Pokémon Sanctuary," a colorful and irreverent Pop Art work born from the fusion of the Pokémon universe and reimagined religious symbolism.
In this new limited edition of 30 unique green copies for 2025, the artist Pope pushes provocation even further: Jesus disappears. Only a gaudy sanctuary remains where Pikachu, Charizard, and countless creatures occupy the entire cross. This divine work, under blue light, transforms and reveals intense and captivating fluorescent nuances.
This epoxy resin crucifix, handcrafted, becomes a profane temple, an explosion of color where pop culture takes precedence over sacred tradition.
Each copy, numbered, is unique in its inclusions and composition. The work can be placed on a surface or hung thanks to its brass hook on the back.
Bid now to add one of Pope’s most exclusive and disturbing Pop Art pieces to your collection.
Dated, signed, numbered, delivered with certificate of authenticity.
Fast and careful shipping (bubble wrap, tissue paper, reinforced cardboard) with delivery against signature.
Who is Pope?
Pope, cofounder of the AMA collective, develops a singular artistic universe supported by a visual arts practice from childhood, a high standard of detail, and meticulous visual research. Through sculptures, paintings, and installations, he draws inspiration from photography, urban landscapes, and everyday scenes, with a sensitive and awed gaze, attentive to both the simplicity and the complexity of the world around him.
Pope primarily sources inspiration from the world around him but also from movements of renowned artists such as Banksy, Keith Haring, Koons, Orlinski, Takashi, Fred Allart, Shepard Fairey, Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Richard Hamilton, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Alec Monopoly, KAWS, Pantone, Mr. Brainwash, Blek le Rat, to name just a few.
Whether as a gift, a keepsake, or part of your personal contemporary art collection, you will surely find your favorite piece thanks to the diversity of our works. Indeed, Pope pursues his passion for urban art through street art and pop art (in limited editions or not), covering a wide range of themes such as cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum), the dollar, money, gold, wealth, the sex industry, drug abuse, luxury brands and haute couture, the world of comics and video games, the pharmaceutical industry and medicines, recycling and upcycling, food and fashion industry products (sport, sneakers, etc.).
Brands guide our choices and often our lives without us realizing it. Aware of this impact, Pope enjoys slyly diverging labels such as Louis Vuitton (LV), Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Prada, Gucci, Rolex, Yves Saint Laurent (YSL), Supreme, Obey, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG, Mercedes, Nike (Air Jordan), Adidas (Stan Smith), Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Marvel and Avengers (Batman, Joker, Superman...), Disney (Mickey, Scrooge McDuck...), Nintendo, Sega, Tintin, Lego, Pokémon, Vans and many others.
Dear bidders, our collective makes every effort to ensure that all information necessary to evaluate the lot for sale is clearly detailed in the listing: dimensions, weight, description, and photos... After the sale, no unjustified claims will be considered. Thank you for your understanding.
