Louis Dourand - Eternal Icons, Mickey Mouse

The work transforms an icon of visual culture into a figure suspended between reality and imagination. Through a pointillist and luminous language, the subject emerges from the dark like a constellation, evoking the idea of a timeless symbol, at the boundary between the earthly and the cosmic.
The choice to reduce the form to glints and particles creates an effect of thinning that invites the viewer to reflect on the role of images in the collective imagination: from simple figures of consumption they become universal emblems, loaded with memory and suggestions.
Thus a dialogue between pop and transcendence is born, where the lightness of the icon joins the depth of the myth, transforming it into a luminous presence, familiar and at the same time distant, almost celestial.

This new work arises from the creativity of the French artist Louis Dourand, known for having collaborated in the past with Santicri, in an artistic dialogue that managed to fuse different visual languages into a shared expressive vision. Santicri – with whom Louis Dourand has collaborated on several occasions – is one of the most established contemporary artists on the international scene.
He has exhibited his works in prestigious contexts such as Palazzo Grillo in Genoa in 2022 and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York in 2023.
In 2024 he was recognized among the Best-Selling Artists by Artmayeur and he entered the top 3 of the most sought-after artists on Catawiki, alongside names like Kaws and Banksy.
