This vibrant oil on canvas work sits within the Contemporary Pop Art movement, reinterpreting the iconic portrait of Marilyn Monroe through a lens of deconstruction and visual collage.
The work stands out for a bold play of contrasts, where Marilyn's face, captured in a moment of ecstasy with her open smile and full-colored blonde hair, is intercepted and "framed" by the geometric typography of the word LOVE. These letters act as windows that reveal a fragmented, monochromatic (grisaille) version of the same face, creating a duality between the radiant public image and a more internal or melancholic facet.
The painter uses a high-impact color palette, dominated by a crimson red background that evokes passion and fame, contrasted with the steely grays of the fragments, achieving a dynamic and complex composition.
Through this juxtaposition of texture, color, and typographic form, the artist aims to convey a reflection on the ephemeral nature of celebrity, the complexity of idolized love, and the fragility of the human being behind the myth, challenging the viewer to recompose Marilyn's identity through the filter of love and fragmentation.
