Description from the seller
Cornelis Bruinsma (1942) - Winter Scene
Oil painting on canvas:
- Unframed: height x width: 40 cm x 50 cm
- Framed: height x width: 54 cm x 64 cm
Cornelis Bruinsma is a 20th-century painter and draftsman from the province of Gelderland. He was born on August 7, 1942 in Hattum.
Cornelis Bruinsma lives and works in the Achterhoek region. The Achterhoek is also known as De Graafschap, and is renowned for its medieval towns, endless forests with beautifully rolling landscapes, and tranquil streams. A true muse for classical painters. It is therefore understandable that Cornelis Bruinsma has a preference for landscapes.
Cornelis Bruinsma soon developed into a versatile draftsman in his youth, mastering the art of capturing the contours of landscapes in detail.
Logically, with the Achterhoek in mind, Cornelis Bruinsma later specialized in the classic Dutch landscape painting, as this fascinates him so much. He gained recognition for his non-figurative canvases. In particular his summer landscapes, but especially his very refined winter landscapes, he reached a wide audience and achieved great fame. His works were soon exhibited, among others, in Delft, Deventer, Apeldoorn, and Bocholt.
