Description from the seller
DAF de SADE / BOREL Antoine - Sixty-Nine Forbidden Engravings - Oblique Images - 1980
Donatien Alphonse François de Sade (1740-1814), better known as the Marquis de Sade, was an aristocrat, man of letters and philosopher whose work has profoundly influenced the history of erotic literature. Having spent much of his life in prison, he wrote subversive texts such as "Philosophy in the Boudoir" to explore the boundaries of morality and individual freedom.
Antoine Borel (1743-1810) was a French painter and draftsman celebrated for his illustrations intended for licentious works published clandestinely in the eighteenth century. His talent is expressed through anatomical precision and a sense of staging that defined the erotic imagery of his time.
The book is an iconographic and textual anthology gathering forbidden scenes drawn from the most famous licentious novels of the Enlightenment.
Publisher's binding in emerald green percaline with gold titles, in excellent condition.
136 pages.
