Description from the seller
“The Weight of Balance” builds an impossible space where architecture ceases to respond only to function and becomes a reflection on balance, perception, and inner order. Geometric forms—the arch, the sphere, the circle, and stepped blocks—dialogue with each other as if they were fragments of a mental rather than physical structure, evoking a symbolic architecture that seems to sustain itself between stability and fragility.
The influence of Bauhaus manifests in reducing the composition to essential forms and primary colors, where every element exists with absolute clarity and without ornament. Yet, beyond its apparent rationality, the work introduces a poetic dimension: the central arch functions as a threshold, an opening toward an interior, contemplative space. Geometry is not presented as cold or mechanical, but charged with silence and emotional tension.
From Gestalt theory, the composition invites the viewer to complete invisible relationships among the shapes. Although each figure appears independent, the mind organizes them into a harmonic totality, generating the sense of a coherent and almost monumental structure. The emptiness of the arch becomes as important as the solid bodies surrounding it, reminding us that absence also creates meaning.
The work thus posits a search for balance between reason and sensibility, between objective construction and subjective experience. More than representing a real place, it creates a mental space where geometry becomes a way of thinking and contemplation.
