Presented in its very fine antique gilt wooden frame with gold leaf.

Édouard Henri LÉON learned his craft from the famous academic painter Léon Bonnat (1834-1922), then brilliantly specialized in the art of engraving with the burin and etching under Jules Jacquet (1841-1913).

Sociétaire of the prestigious Salon des Artistes Français since 1906, he earned numerous mentions and medals there over the course of his career. In 1908, his exceptional talent was crowned by the Belin-Dollet engraving prize. Renowned for his institutional rigor, he distinguished himself particularly by illustrating major bibliophile works with his compositions, notably Paul Valéry's play: "L'Âme et la danse" in 1926.
