Description from the seller
Rare work by Georges BRU, acquired directly from the artist at his home in Lormont in 1970.
This work has particular interest for several reasons. Georges Bru is mainly known for his drawings, while his paintings remain rare on the market. Furthermore, this piece belongs to an important experimental phase in his artistic career: it is part of his early explorations of a mixed technique that he would develop later over a relatively short period. (Two other works from this same period of research are also offered.)
This work bears witness to the artist's early exploratory attempts at a process combining inks, wax and glue.
The composition takes the form of a glued canvas onto a plywood backing, characteristic of these early experiments. The back preserves technical tests and color trials carried out by the artist, providing a valuable testimony of his creative process. An additional photograph shows the support and its original flaw, inherent to the plywood used.
Condition: Good overall. A few slight alterations and signs of wear are visible in the corners of the work, consistent with its age.
