LA OBRA

"The educated" takes Epictetus' saying as a manifesto on inner freedom understood not as an external privilege, but as an intellectual conquest.

The work centers on the idea that education—in its broadest sense: critical thinking, self-knowledge, the ability to discern—is the tool that allows the individual to emancipate themselves from conditioning, fears, and imposed narratives.

Within this framework, the piece functions as an ethical statement: true freedom does not depend on circumstances, but on the clarity with which one learns to interpret them. The message invites the viewer to place themselves in that space of autonomy where understanding equals liberation, and where education becomes the deepest form of resistance and personal affirmation.

EL AUTOR

For Kiru, the matter, the stroke, and the color are not only key elements in the creative process but also the ones that transform each piece into a stimulating and positive visual experience.

Kiru is a Spanish artist with an intuitive and accessible palette, and who holds a Degree in Art from the Open University of Catalonia (Spain).

Kiru derives from the Sanskrit root kṛ, which means to create, do, draw, and is at the origin of terms such as kṛti (work) or karma (action). It is a historical and well-documented root, directly linked to the creative act understood as gesture, process, and transformation.

LA COLECCIÓN

In the tradition of abstract art there is a recurring history: many painters who tried to expel language completely discovered that, even in the absence of form, text leaves an inevitable trace. Not as legible words, but as a human footprint, as a gesture of consciousness. That minimal presence—a symbol, an incomplete syllable, a sign that seems like a letter but isn’t—works as a reminder that behind color and matter there is a will that decides.

That same idea naturally connects with Stoic writings: texts that do not seek to adorn, but to affirm an inner attitude toward the world. Therefore, in the collection “Abstract Stoicism,” including textual fragments transformed, disfigured, or reduced to pure visual energy is not a capricious aesthetic, but a coherent act: the best Stoic thoughts become abstract imprints to be perceived as the vibration of a will that does not break.
