Decorative and sculptural two-object set by Dümler & Breiden from Germany, in the Fat Lava Brutalist style, comprising a turquoise vase (16 cm high, 14 cm diameter) with a black volcanic texture and turquoise relief band, and a matching stand (5 cm high, 25 cm diameter) with identical drawings and colours, dating to circa 1965–1975 and marked “Germany.”
Description from the seller
Decorative and sculptural ceramic object by Dümler & Breiden from Germany, produced in the period 1965-1975, belonging to the West German Art Pottery tradition.
The objects combine a rough, almost volcanic black texture with a contrasting turquoise relief band in abstract geometric decoration.
The bold design closely aligns with the Brutalist and mid-century modern aesthetics that were characteristic of German design ceramics from the Fat Lava period.
The architectural silhouette form of the vase, sometimes also called the UFO vase, gives the piece a pronounced sculptural presence, making it suitable as both a designer vase and an autonomous decorative object.
With a matching bowl bearing exactly the same drawings and colors.
