Description: For sale is a fascinating, original masterwork by the impressionist landscape painter Eduard Adam Schmidt (E.A. Schmidt). The painting captivates with its exceptionally sculptural spatula and impasto technique, in which the oil paint is applied in relief-like fashion – thus the work spectacularly captures the light on the water and in the trees. On the back of the canvas frame is the original historical place designation “...bei Mitau” (today Jelgava, Latvia).
