Description from the seller
Born in 1977, Jone Hopper is a French artist.
In the late 1980s, he gets his start on the street through the emerging graffiti movement of the time. He tags his name on streets, walls, and trains. Known for his characters and his aerosol signatures, he forms the collective TBS (The Brutal Style) with Skepa and a few other committed graffiti artists. We know little about him because the artist stays true to the spirit of graffiti and wishes to remain anonymous, believing that it is the work that should be highlighted, not the person. Non-existent on social media, absent from openings, a faceless artist, he remains a true mystery except for a few gallery owners in the confidences. He compares his painting to a hip hop track, drawing from Basquiat, Keith Haring, Picasso, Matisse, Andy Warhol, or even Bacon; he taps into all painting movements, from Modern to Contemporary, including Classical, and acts like a sampler—sampling, cutting, assembling, and thus creating new images.
- Mixed techniques: aerosol, pastel and acrylic on canvas
- With certificate of authenticity
