Original oil on canvas titled Momento Eterno by Antonio Sciacca (2016), a multicolour contemporary portrait of 60 x 80 cm, produced in Italy, signed and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Fascinating and powerful oil on canvas work by the renowned contemporary master Antonio Sciacca, titled "Momento Eterno" and dated 2016.
The painting masterfully fits into the classic theme of Memento Mori and Vanitas, reinterpreted with the artist's extraordinary chromatic sensitivity and unmistakable stylistic signature. The work depicts two skeletal figures reclining, dressed in sumptuous ecclesiastical and ceremonial garments in vivid colors (deep purple, antique pink, gold and finely decorated details). The contrast between the drama of death and the opulence of the vestments creates a hypnotic visual tension, typical of the artist's existential reflections on time, the transience of life, and the eternity of art.
The use of light, the textural layering of color (especially visible in the details of the headdresses and garments), and the etherial neutral-toned background give the figures a strong three-dimensionality and a nearly sculptural solemnity.
