BIOGRAPHY:
Born August 12, 1912, Nikolai Timkov began his studies at the Rostov-on-Don Art Technicum from 1927 to 1931. He continued his studies at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture from 1933 to 1939. He was active in Moscow from 1930 to 1933, then settled in Leningrad, where he spent the majority of his career.
Timkov participated in numerous exhibitions across the Soviet Union, including the prestigious All-Union Art Exhibition in Moscow in 1955, and the Soviet Russia Exhibition in Moscow in 1960.
Timkov is one of the best-known Russian painters of the 20th century.
Although trained in the academic tradition of Russian realism at the Academy of Arts, Timkov developed his own distinctive style, characterized by impressionistic brushwork and original compositional solutions.

His works are exhibited in all the major Russian museums, notably the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg and the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
