Description from the seller
The Grey Canal is a work by the contemporary artist Aurel, based in Spain and who holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (2005–2010). The artist's career has a prominent presence in Spain and Italy, having exhibited in institutions such as the Museo Cívico Giovanni Fattori and the Centro Cultural Casa de Vacas. Her work has been recognized in prestigious competitions, being a finalist in the BMW Painting Award and the Combat Prize, as well as receiving awards such as the Young Creators Award of the Community of Madrid and distinctions from the Art Directors Club of Europe. This artwork is part of the Ethereal Nature project, presented in 2022.
The Grey Canal belongs to the series Ethereal Nature, a project composed of open, undefined, and intangible landscapes, fictional landscapes that arise from the subconscious of an idealization of nature. The title is merely symbolic, a small hint or possible reading, since it is the process itself that defines the path to be taken, the use of spontaneity, the accidental, or the unexpected to form a plastic language of identity.
The signature, which you will find on the lower left side of the painting, is the mark of a scar that the artist herself has had on her forehead since she was a baby and that has become part of her identity.
