The subject of the auction is a unique, antique bird cage with a distinctive architectural character, originating from Germany. Although, due to the lack of signature and the rarity of such objects on the market, it is very difficult to precisely and unambiguously determine the exact period of its creation, the craftsmanship and the characteristic details allow me to personally date it to the 1930s. This highly ornamental piece is a splendid example of old craftsmanship inspired by Victorian style and ancient garden architecture. The cage captivates with its unique construction, in which the octagonal, sturdy base measuring 29 cm by 29 cm smoothly transitions into a slender, delicately executed dome crowned with a decorative finial. The whole stands 50 cm tall, making it an eye-catching yet easily displayable piece for a dresser, console table, or to hang from the ceiling using a solid metal chain (modern accessory). The construction blends elements of natural turned and milled wood with classic metal rods. The original, contrasting finish in deep green and dark red adds extraordinary charm, beautifully emphasizing the geometric shape of the object and fitting perfectly into vintage, rustic, or eclectic styles. An exceptionally practical and rare design feature of this model is a fully openable, removable bottom in the form of a wooden flap, which allows easy cleaning of the interior and facilitates arranging decorative elements. The overall condition is described as good, with natural signs of age that only add authenticity and historical flair.
