Description from the seller

Exceptional set in solid silver (1.15 kg) – Rocaille style – Master Goldsmith Léon Berchot or Leon Boivin?

Collector's piece: Exceptional 18-piece solid silver table service (Minerve 1st Title).

I am offering for sale a French silversmithing ensemble from the late 19th century, believed to have been made by a prestigious Paris house (maker's mark LB with scales, active from 1893).

This set stands out for its finely engraved foliate Rocaille decor and a depth of chasing that is rare. Unlike standard productions of the era, this is a special-order so-called "Heavy Model", delivering exceptional density and hand feel (85 g for a single fork).

Set details (18 pieces):
6 Table forks: ~85 g each
6 Large Table Spoons: ~79 g each
6 Coffee/Dessert Spoons: ~26 g each
Total weight of solid silver: 1,150 g (1.15 kg)

Features & Condition:
Hallmarks: Minerva Head 1st Title (925/1000) and Master Maker Léon Berchot, perfectly legible on every piece.

Monogram: A single letter "G" finely calligraphed in an English style. The advantage of a single letter makes this set easy to personalize for a family or as a personalized gift (G for Gabriel, Guillaume, Garnier, Girard, etc.) or even "God" or "Gnosis" for a religious motif.

Condition: Superb. The tines of the forks are long (not worn), the spoons are perfect. The silver patina beautifully enhances the baroque decor.

Why acquire this set?
Beyond the value of the precious metal, it is the work of the master goldsmith that is highlighted here. The Rocaille style, emblematic of French luxury, harmonizes with a traditional table or a historical lifestyle/arts collection.

Delivered in its very beautiful blue period case... from the era!
