Description from the seller
Blue Night at the Shack" - 2026
The shack, lost in the middle of nowhere on its islet, embodies the archetype of refuge. The yellow light escaping from it evokes a human presence, an inner warmth and a sense of security in the face of the immensity of the night. The boat is the only link with the rest of the world, but here it is hauled out on shore, sealing the state of chosen solitude or contemplative retreat.
The painting is built on a play of mirrors. The reflection doubles the house, creating an impression of hovering where the top and bottom respond to one another. This perfect symmetry gives the work a stability nearly meditative, an absolute calm where time seems suspended.
"Blue Night at the Shack" is a poetic and minimalist work. By the force of its nocturnal blue and the simplicity of its lines, Yves Decaudan succeeds in transforming a minimal landscape into a mental space conducive to daydreaming, serene solitude, and mystery.
Painting by the artist painter Yves Decaudan - 1954
Acrylic on cotton canvas, wooden stretcher, unframed, dimensions 80 x 60 cm
Exhibited at the Paris Autumn Salon - 2022
Delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
