The photograph was taken in the outskirts of Churchill, a tiny village overlooking Hudson Bay in the province of Manitoba, Canada. It depicts a polar bear that, in October, after summer hibernation, sets off toward the frozen bay where it will finally be able to resume hunting.
The image is signed on the back and measures 30 x 40 cm. It is printed in a limited edition (25 copies) on Hahnemühle Baryta FB 350 g/m² paper and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Alessandro Gandolfi is an Italian professional photographer and journalist, co-founder of the Parallelozero agency. Interested in telling the small and large changes of contemporary society, his reportage has appeared in publications around the world and has been exhibited in various international photography exhibitions and festivals. He has received international recognitions such as the Sony World Photography Award, the NPPA Best of Photojournalism, POY - Pictures of the Year, and the PDN. Eight of his reportage pieces published in National Geographic Italia have earned the “Best Edit Award” as the best reportage published in the magazine’s various local editions.
