Description from the seller

Title: Dutch military memorabilia lot – Royal Netherlands Navy officer’s hat, portepee, and 4 military emblems, banknote – from the estate of Vliegerkruis bearer C.R. Blom

Description:
Offered: a varied and historically interesting Dutch militaria lot consisting of an original Royal Netherlands Navy officer’s hat, a sabre hanger (portepee), and four Dutch military emblems from different branches of the armed forces. Also a 1943 guilder banknote. An attractive ensemble for the collector of Dutch military history, naval items, and WWII-related militaria.

A significant portion of this lot comes from the personal group of sergeant major-pilot Casparus Reinier Blom, bearer of the Vliegerkruis. Blom served with the Naval Aviation Service and was active in the Southwest Pacific during World War II, where he carried out numerous operational combat flights with the Catalina aircraft. For his service he was awarded the Vliegerkruis by Royal Decree on 22 December 1952. The estate was originally acquired through Heritage Auctions.

The original Dutch Navy officer’s hat is executed in a classic model with a dark band, sturdy brim, and a nicely embroidered emblem on the front. The characteristic gold officer’s cord above the brim highlights the rank and appearance of the piece. The interior features lining and sweatband. The hat is in good, worn condition with normal signs of use appropriate for its age and use.

In addition, the lot includes an original Dutch portepee (sabre hanger), also from the personal group of C.R. Blom. The portepee is in good condition; the cord is torn, but this is a relatively simple repair for someone experienced in militaria restoration.

Furthermore, the lot comprises four original Dutch military emblems:
- Shoulder insignia Regiment Huzaren van Boreel
- Kraaginsigne KNIL Genie (Royal Netherlands East Indies Army)
- Shoulder insignia Grenadiers
- Insigne Stoottroepen Prins Bernhard

The emblems are in good, used condition with normal signs of age and contribute to the authentic character of this set.

Lastly, a splendid guilder banknote from 1943.

Features:
- Country: Netherlands
- Period: 20th century / WWII-related
- Components: Royal Netherlands Navy, Army & KNIL
- Includes: officer’s hat, portepee, and 4 emblems + 1943 guilder banknote
- Condition: good used condition

A special and decorative militaria lot with strong historical background and provenance, ideal for collectors of Dutch naval, aviation, and WWII militaria.
