Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary image-maker, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on sight, presence, and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle game of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later attracted by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extended this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models take on a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A fresh take on cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it unveils a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and exacting, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough job is done on colors, light, and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Manufacture
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered pieces plus 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a recessed backing. Printed on luminescent white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a flexible UV- and moisture-resistant coating, ensuring excellent durability, long-term robustness, color stability, and a modern, contemporary finish.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
