Sonia Anton - In Motion

A swirling, atmospheric background of deep crimson, magenta, and violet fills the canvas with movement and energy, the paint applied in bold circular strokes that give the surface a rich, cloud-like texture. Against this dramatic ground, two loose gestural figures are painted in fluid lines of black, orange, yellow, blue, and white, their forms minimal and expressive, suggesting dancers or figures caught in a moment of complete freedom.
The composition is spontaneous and alive, the figures barely contained within the swirling colour around them. This one came from a place of pure freedom. I wanted the figures to feel like they were moving, not posed, just caught mid-motion. The background took over first and I let it. Then the figures found their way in naturally.
