Description from the seller

David Law

Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling presence, almost alive, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.

New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons

The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetics. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough treatment is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.

Edition & Manufacturing

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printing on bright white vinyl, adhesively mounted between two aluminum plates, with a flexible UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.

Career

Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also a dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a writer/author and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
