Description from the seller
A tall, vertical composition that moves from darkness to light as the eye travels upward. The lower half of the canvas is deep and shadowy, built from layers of black and dark grey, with vertical streaks of orange and white cutting through like flames or rain. Small line drawings in red, blue, and yellow are scattered throughout, faces, figures, flowers, and creatures emerging from the darkness as if hidden within it. The middle section bursts into a dense, textured mass of mauve and dusty pink, an eye staring outward from its centre. Above, the canvas opens into a pale, atmospheric grey, populated with floating eyes, lips, figures, and abstract forms drawn in vivid colour, creating the feeling of a dream slowly rising to the surface. This one felt like painting the inside of a mind.
I loved hiding things in the darkness and letting them peek out. Every time you look at it you find something new. That was the whole point.
Please note that colours may vary slightly depending on screen settings, light conditions, and device display. The artwork has been photographed as accurately as possible to reflect the true colours of the original piece.
Sonia Anton is a Romanian-Australian artist whose passion for painting was shaped from an early age, growing up alongside her mother, a celebrated artist whose work left a lasting impression. Having lived across the world from Australia to Mexico and in different continents, Sonia brings a richness of experience and perspective to every canvas. Surrounded by creativity and self-expression from childhood, she naturally found her own voice through paint and colour. Her work is driven by a deep love of colour, and a more recent fascination with texture, which she explores with growing boldness and confidence. Each piece is an act of genuine self-expression, an invitation to feel rather than simply observe.
This artwork will be carefully rolled and shipped in a protective tube to ensure safe delivery. Please note that stretching and framing are not included and will need to be arranged upon receipt.
