Napoleon III style, late 19th – early 20th century
Elegant antique carved wooden frame with gilded composition, richly decorated with floral and foliate motifs in relief along the entire border. The decor features a beautiful aged patina with golden and coppery nuances slightly darkened, giving it a lot of character and authenticity.
The outer frieze is adorned with sculpted flowers in repetition accompanied by finely worked foliage, while the inner surround offers a more delicate vegetal decor typical of decorative productions from the end of the 19th century. The whole testifies to a fine ornamental work in the Napoleon III taste.
The frame retains its glass as well as its old back-hanging system. It can accommodate a portrait, a print, a mirror, or a painting, but also makes for a very beautiful decorative element in itself.
