Wall sconce - Wood, Gold

A pair of 19th-century Rococo-style wall appliques with a prominent cresting on top, decorated with a wavy shield-shaped form and a shell that reproduces the decorations of 18th-century Venetian design. In the center there is a shaped mirror that shows slight wear to the silvered back, a detail typical of mirrors that are several decades old. The old arm that held the candle has been adapted for electricity. The appliques are complete with a half-moon lampshade and are fully functional. The ornament is done in gold leaf on wood.
