Description from the seller
Title:
Luis Filcer – The Process (Kafka) – original watercolor (unicum)
Description:
Original watercolor by the Mexican-Dutch artist Luis Filcer (1927–2018), inspired by The Trial by Franz Kafka.
Filcer is known for his powerful expressionist style, in which he centers human emotions and social tensions. Characteristic of Filcer is that he questions the role of those in authority. In this work, he translates Kafka’s claustrophobic world of guilt, power, and bureaucracy into an unsettling visual language.
The watercolor shows typical Filcer features: expressive lines, strong contrasts, and a charged, psychological atmosphere. Unlike graphic art, this is a unique, handmade work (no edition).
Filcer exhibited worldwide and represented Mexico at international biennials. He also lived and worked for a long time in the Netherlands.
