Pierre Laprade (1875 - 1931) French painter and engraver. At the end of the 19th century he frequented Antoine Bourdelle's studio and, although destined for the judiciary, the sculptor encouraged him in the artistic path. In 1900, Ambroise Vollard bought his first work. That same year, at the Eugène Carrière Academy, Laprade met Henri Matisse and the future Fauves, with whom he would exhibit in 1905 at the Salon d'Automne. He participated in the 1901 Salon des Indépendants and had a solo exhibition at Ambroise Vollard. A founding member of the Salon des Tuileries, he exhibited there until 1930. In 1925, he painted the series Churches and Cathedrals, he decorated a tea service, and in 1926, he participated in the exhibition of the “Young Contemporary Painting” at the Bernheim-Jeune Gallery and at the Katia Granoff Gallery.
