Hello! If you’re looking for a distinctive and non-trivial painting created with noble technique, and you feel drawn to the mysterious and majestic world of nature - you’re at the right place. I am an experienced artist and painter from Poland. I am deeply inspired by Japanese aesthetics and historical natural history illustrations. My paintings fit perfectly not only private interiors but also spaces such as boutique hotels, cafes, offices, beauty clinics, or studios. I include a certificate of authenticity with every work.

My direct inspiration is the Japanese nihonga technique. The paintings are made on cotton canvas or paper. Paints are ground by hand from Japanese mineral pigments suihi and homemade glue. I use brushes in an Asian style, commonly associated with calligraphy, for applying the medium. The white pigment comes from gofun – a Japanese oyster shell powder. I also paint sumi ink based on water. The gilded fragments in my works are shaghmetal – metal flakes that imitate gold. These metallic elements beautifully reflect light, even on cloudy days, and give the painting a slightly different look from every angle.

Vivid lily blooms with intensely red petals emerge from a dark background, contrasting with the bright gold surface at the center of the composition.
Flat, decorative treatment of forms and a pronounced outline evoke the aesthetics of Japanese woodblock prints, and antiqued gold lends the work a ceremonial, luxurious character. The bold clash of red, black, and gold creates a composition with expressive impact, balancing between botanical realism and ornamental stylization.

Hanna Werkowicz (born 1986, Warsaw) is a graduate of the Theatre Academy in Warsaw and a makeup school. She has also worked as an illustrator, prop creator for advertising and film, and has created about 500 artistic objects for clients worldwide. The artist’s main inspirations are Japanese aesthetics and old natural history illustrations, and animals and plants are at the center of her painting interests. In her works, beyond external form, the artist aims to capture the spirit of the plant or animal, thus paying homage to the flawless beauty of nature. Her paintings achieve a balance between decorative form and the rawness of natural pigment, giving them a calm, contemplative character.
