SHONG (born in 1989) – “Graffitique”, 2020
Original aerosol painting on canvas
Dimensions: 81 x 54 x 2 cm
Hand-signed by the artist
Unique work
France
Description
“Graffitique” is a representative work of SHONG’s practice, a French graffiti scene artist. Through a dynamic and structured composition, the artist develops a visual language at the border between abstraction and urban writing.
The canvas is built around superimposed gestures, lines and controlled projections, creating a circular movement and pronounced visual depth. The contrasts between dark areas and bluish tones provide a reading that is both graphic and immersive.
The whole piece directly evokes the energy of graffiti, transposed here onto canvas with a contemporary and controlled approach.
Artist biography
SHONG is a French artist from Le Havre, born in 1989. Coming from graffiti, he starts with tagging before developing a more constructed practice around painting on canvas.
Active since the 2000s, he is part of a generation of artists who have managed to evolve urban aesthetics toward gallery formats. His work is characterized by a search for balance between spontaneity of gesture and structured composition.
His works convey a desire to preserve the raw energy of graffiti while placing it within a sustainable artistic approach.
