Important and very rare first edition of the memoirs and correspondence of Federico Confalonieri, protagonist of the Italian Risorgimento whose political fortunes led him to the famous arrest of 1821 and to long detention at Spielberg.
The work, edited by Gabrio Casati who possessed the private archive, gathers his autobiographical memoirs and a large corpus of letters, offering a direct testimony of the Lombard patriotic and liberal culture of the Restoration era.
