Note from the artist:
Water has always been one of my favourite things to paint. The shifting reflections, broken colour, and constant movement allow for a kind of controlled chaos in the brushwork. With this piece I wanted to capture that brief moment at sunset when the sea, sky, and wet sand begin to dissolve into one another, and the entire landscape feels lit from within.

About the artist

Gonçalo Teixeira is a Portuguese painter working across traditional and digital media. Trained at the University of Porto and Arts University Bournemouth, his work focuses on portraiture, symbolism, and the emotional weight of the human figure. Drawing from classical painting, mythology, Catholic imagery, and dreamlike narratives, his paintings explore themes of memory, beauty, mortality, and inner tension.

His work has been exhibited in Porto, Lisbon, and Barcelona and collected internationally. Whether working in oils or digitally, Teixeira approaches the figure not as decoration, but as a vessel for atmosphere, emotion, and story.
