Two bilateral letter scales dating from 1930–1940, made in Germany of iron and brass, one by Ph. J. Maul with the Columbus mark and dual scales (0–50 g and 50–250 g) and the other by an unknown maker with scales (0–20 g and 20–250 g) plus Austrian, Hungarian and German patent numbers, in working order, in used but neat vintage condition, measuring 16 × 12 × 9 cm.
Description from the seller
For sale: two small bilateral letter scales with two scale divisions, of which one was produced by Ph. J. Maul in Germany and the maker of the other scale is unknown.
On the Ph. J. Maul scale the trademark Columbus appears and it is bilateral.
The weighing range of this bilateral letter scale runs from:
0 to 50 grams on the lower scale division.
50 to 250 grams on the upper scale division.
The weighing range of the unknown letter scale runs from:
0 to 20 grams on the lower scale division.
20 to 250 grams on the upper scale division.
Furthermore, this scale has Austrian, Hungarian and German patent numbers.
These bilateral scales are an interesting and decorative object for collectors of old measuring instruments, industrial design, or retro office accessories.
Condition:
In used but neat vintage condition, with clearly visible signs of age and use.
