Medsan presents Bonsai Gardeners (盆栽の庭師) - Hand Signed, a 40×40 cm Giclée mounted on a wooden frame, from a 2026 limited edition, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
With this square-format work, the artist boldly continues to explore scale and lilliputian scenes. This giclée features a majestic bonsai (ideally a pine, matsu) planted in a vast white pot, treated not as an indoor plant but as a centuries-old monumental tree taken by storm by a team of workers from the Edo period.
Visual ingenuity is expressed through the contrast of size and the dynamism of the scene. Tiny gardeners and peasants, dressed in their traditional blue outfits, bustle around the giant vegetation. Using long wooden ladders to reach the branches, they pull on ropes and wield shears to prune the needles with the precision of a massive pruning chantier. The integration of the signature is particularly clever here: the artist’s name in katakana (メドサン) is painted in broad blue characters directly on the pristine surface of the pot, fitting perfectly into the work’s universe while replacing the traditional ukiyo-e cartouche.
The impact of the composition is magistrally enhanced by a vivid coral-red, uniform background. This warm, pop tone contrasts ideally with the deep green of the pine needles, the textured browns of the knotty trunk, and the dazzling white of the ceramic. The precise line work and color blocks link the refinement of Japanese printmaking to a contemporary, surreal reading.
A work of great poetry, teeming with narrative details, ideal for bringing a touch of nature, serenity, and a dash of offbeat humor to a designer interior.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up as a true creative production space, the workshop operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo is part of a more instinctive exploration, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
