AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Manolo Roman (born in Granada, Spain, 1967) is a Spanish contemporary visual artist whose work explores abstraction, gesture, texture and the psychological atmosphere of human experience.

From an early age Roman showed exceptional artistic ability, developing a deep fascination with the Old Masters including Caravaggio, Modigliani, El Greco and Michelangelo. Over the years, his artistic language evolved towards abstraction, influenced by movements such as German Expressionism, Art Informel, El Paso, Dau al Set and artists including Antoni Tàpies, Pierre Soulages, Gerhard Richter and Anselm Kiefer.

His work combines expressive brushwork, layered textures and experimental materials, creating paintings that investigate memory, spirituality, philosophy and the emotional dimension of colour and light. Roman’s artistic practice is deeply connected to personal experience, travel and the study of art history, resulting in works that balance intuition with intellectual reflection.

Throughout his career he travelled extensively across Europe, studying contemporary and classical art movements in France, Germany, Holland, Slovakia and Spain. During this period he developed a highly individual visual language inspired by both historical influences and modern abstraction.

Manolo Roman has exhibited internationally, including:
• Madrid (2006)
• New York (2008)
• The News Building, London (2016)
• Bakoš, Košice (2022)

In 2013, Roman was commissioned to create mural paintings for a chapel in Asturias, Spain, further reflecting his connection to spirituality, symbolism and historical artistic traditions.
His works are held in private collections internationally.
Original unique artwork.

Hand-signed by the artist. Certificate of authenticity included.
The artwork is shipped professionally packaged and delivered unstretched, rolled in a tube for safe international transport unless otherwise stated.
