Medsan presents Carpal Spine (高鴬の背骨) - Hand Signed, a 40 × 40 cm giclée in a limited edition from 2026, originating in France and signed by the artist in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
With this square-format work, Medsan reveals a more introspective and scientific facet of his creative universe, signing an emblematic piece of his series dedicated to medical art — a perpetual dialogue between human anatomy, Oriental symbolism, and pictorial poetry. This unique giclée features a human spine erected as the central axis of the composition, a bony arrow springing from cosmic darkness to reach the light — a vertiginous metaphor of human verticality and the spiritual quest.
The magic of the composition lies in this troubling metamorphosis where the skeleton becomes a aquatic creature. The spine, rendered with anatomical precision worthy of 19th-century medical plates — vertebrae carefully articulated, neural processes and transverse processes perfectly detailed — is endowed with diaphanous, silky fins that seem to beat in the stellar vacuum, transforming the spine into a kind of ancient, translucent koi carp. At the summit of this mystic column, a bright explosion bursts into the night, a divine halo or inner supernova, perhaps symbolizing illumination, the breath of life, or the exact moment when the soul leaves the body. All around, seven true koi carp gracefully evolve in the starry darkness — their white robes speckled with vermilion red evoking the famous Kohaku koi, symbols of strength, perseverance and luck in Japanese culture.
The impact of the composition is masterfully highlighted by a cosmic deep blue night background, as deep as the ocean, speckled with shards of gold dust and cyan blue that simultaneously evoke the Milky Way and the shimmer of nocturnal waters in a sacred pool. Visible brushstrokes, generous impasto, and the dominant palette — deep blacks, sapphire blues, ivory-white of bone, the vibrant reds of the carps, and the gold of divine light — invest this anatomical meditation with a pictorial and mysterious dimension. The meeting between the scientific rigor of anatomy and Oriental spirituality creates a work of rare symbolic depth — a reflection on the soul and the body, on transformation, on the beauty hidden inside every living being.
A conceptual piece, at once aesthetic, disturbing, and deeply philosophical, ideal for bringing a pictorial, scientific, and resolutely singular touch to a design interior, a medical cabinet, or any space seeking the balance between reason and poetry.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathered around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true place of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family adventure. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, naive art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
