French bronze-mounted cobalt blue crystal soliflare vase, signed GB, dating to 1910–1920, 24.5 cm high with a 8.5 cm col, weight 504 g, in good condition with minor agewear and two tiny crystal chips.
Description from the seller
Grand Clear Perfume Vase in Bleu Cobalt Crystal by Sèvres, circa 1880, with Cut Bronze - Signed GB - France, 19th Century
Exceptional perfume vase in Sèvres crystal (or in the style of the famous crystal works), dating from the late 19th century, enhanced by a luxurious gilded and cut bronze mounting in the Transitional Louis XVI style.
The spirit and the quality of the "Bleu de Sèvres": The Sèvres Cobalt Crystal: This vase bears the factory’s emblematic color: an intense, luminous, and deep cobalt blue, inseparable from the finest Sèvres creations. The body is mouth-blown crystal, a demanding technique revealing the perfect purity of the material.
A High-Vaerbry Work of Origin: A precious testimony to 19th-century French glassmaking art, the base of the vase presents a beautifully milled and cupped pontil. The underside also bears an authentic era patina with micro-scratches of legitimate age.
The Signature "GB": The reverse of this polished base reveals the monogram "GB" finely engraved at the tip, corresponding to the master glassmaker or workshop that crafted the mounting.
Ornamentation in Cut Bronze: The crystal is enhanced by a two-tone high-quality bronze mount. The neck is accented by a twisted beaded collar and a laurel frieze sashed with ribbons. The bronze socle, delicately molded, reinforces the object’s neoclassical elegance.
Dimensions & Weight:
Height: 24.5 cm
Neck diameter: 8.5 cm
Net weight: 504 g
Condition:
Crystal: Superb cobalt color brilliance. For perfect transparency: two small discreet chips (one on the inner edge of the neck, one on the outer edge) should be noted. They are clearly visible in the last two macro photographs and do not affect the piece’s solidity or its stunning appearance as a display piece.
Bronze: Magnificent condition, original gilding and patina well preserved
