Description from the seller

Megalodon Shark Tooth – discovery on the island of Java, Indonesia.
Splendid fossil tooth of Otodus megalodon, the great extinct prehistoric shark that lived about 3.6 million years ago.
Conditions:
- Specimen in good overall preservation. It shows localized restoration in the root area and small targeted interventions on the enamel. The bourlette is authentic, clearly visible and intact — an element that confirms its collectible value.
Visible features:
- Enamel with natural amber/ochre coloration
- Serrations preserved
- Bilobed root with sedimentary matrix still present
- Notable size, as can be seen from the comparison with a hand
Otodus megalodon (the species name, megalodon, derives from Greek and means "great tooth"), commonly known as megalodon or megalo-donte, is an extinct species of giant shark that lived from the Early Miocene to the Early Pliocene, about 23–3.6 million years ago (Aquitainian–Zanclean), whose large fossil teeth demonstrate a cosmopolitan distribution. In the past it was thought that O. megalodon belonged to the family Lamnidae and was a close relative of the great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias), but subsequent studies reclassified it within the extinct family Otodontidae, which diverged from the lineage of the great white during the Early Cretaceous.
Size estimates for the megalodon vary depending on the method used, with maximum total-length projections ranging from 14.2 to 20.3 meters.
