Description from the seller
Character painting "The Suspended Moment" - 2026
The painting captures a classic seaside aesthetic, almost timeless, evoking summer vacations, the Riviera spirit, the shores of the 1930s to 1950s, or the atmosphere of the French Riviera.
The graphical style relies on the use of large flat areas of color and a simplification of forms. There are no subtle gradients or realistic details—the fingers, the hat textures, or facial features are merely suggested. This approach recalls Fauvism, where pure color and line structure the canvas.
The choice to hide the face under the shade of the hat transforms the subject into a universal figure. The viewer does not look at someone; they share a feeling. The title "The Suspended Moment" takes on its full meaning here: time seems to have stopped, frozen in the heat of a summer afternoon, facing the immensity of the sea. It is a deeply calm, contemplative and sunlit work.
