Apple PowerBook 2400c/240 – a rare collector's item from Japan
For sale is a very rare Apple PowerBook 2400c/240 from 1998. This model was mainly intended for the Japanese market and is now hard to find—especially in this technically upgraded condition.
The device runs reliably and is ideal for Apple collectors, retro fans, or enthusiasts of classic Macintosh devices.
Technical data & upgrades:
• 240 MHz PowerPC processor
• 80 MB RAM
• 128 GB SSD instead of original hard drive
• Japanese original keyboard
• Mac OS 7.6.1 installed in Japanese
• Original Apple 36W power adapter with US plug included
Condition & notes:
• Functions flawlessly for its age
• Battery charges, runtime reduced due to age
• PRAM battery was removed as a precaution, so date and time are not stored
• Trackpad button refurbished, cleaned and foam replaced
• Rubber feet and display buffer professionally replaced by 3D printing
• CF slot works flawlessly
Display:
• LCD replaced with a new NOS panel
• Bright and clear image
• A few dead pixels, typical for LCDs from the 90s
Physical condition:
The PowerBook is overall in very good age-appropriate condition. There are light visible signs of wear; see photos.
Important note:
This is a vintage device from the late 1990s. A basic understanding of older technology is assumed. Sale as a collector's item.
