AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

FISHING is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the visual force of old maritime posters and the vintage graphic aesthetics of the mid-20th century.

The work depicts a fishing boat cutting through a storm under heavy diagonal rain and a dramatic sky in deep black. The composition conveys movement, resilience, and a cinematic sense of adventure on the high seas.

Flavia Delgado blends influences from pop art, retro illustration, and classic industrial and nautical posters, using bold black lines, stark contrasts, and a limited palette of intense colors. The visual treatment recalls old port advertisements and American editorial illustrations from the fifties and sixties.

The vibrant red of the title and the base of the boat contrasts with the electric blues of the hull and the sea, creating an image with great visual impact and graphic energy. The rain and the dark sky add drama and transform the everyday fishing scene into an almost epic image.

FISHING is a work that celebrates the spirit of the sea, the toughness of maritime work, and the visual beauty of industrial and oceanic landscapes, ideal for contemporary interiors, creative spaces, or collections inspired by the nautical and vintage universe.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
