This canvas belongs to the night. Not to any night, but to those hours in which darkness ceases to be absence and becomes presence — dense, enveloping, almost sonorous. The leaves emerge from the black like forms that sleep has invented: unsure in the lower tones, ever clearer as they rise toward a blue that opens, lightens, breathes. And then there are them — the specks of light, small and scattered like seeds of stars or fireflies underwater — that traverse the canvas with a lightness that moves one. Mara builds here a nocturnal universe that does not frighten: it envelops.
